Indications for Erosion/Infiltration (ICON)

Erosion/infiltration, also known as ICON, is a technique originally developed to treat early-stage caries. However, after more than a decade of clinical observation, it has proven particularly effective in masking white spots by modifying their optical properties.

These white spots may have several causes (fluorosis, MIH, trauma to primary teeth, etc.) and can often lead to self-consciousness or discomfort when smiling.

At our cosmetic dental clinic, we understand the impact this can have on self-confidence. That is why we offer advanced and effective treatments to address these concerns. Our goal is to restore the freedom to smile naturally and confidently.

The ICON Technique (Erosion/Infiltration)

ICON is a minimally invasive technique that preserves as much natural tooth structure as possible.

It relies on a chemical infiltration process rather than mechanical preparation, meaning no drilling of healthy tissue is required. The aesthetic results are both significant and long-lasting.

White spots caused by fluorosis are often due to enamel hypomineralization, which creates a difference in light refraction compared to healthy enamel.

ICON uses a highly fluid infiltrating resin with a refractive index close to that of healthy dental tissue. This allows light to diffuse more naturally, making the lesion virtually invisible to the naked eye.

ICON treatment is performed in a single session and does not damage healthy tooth structure.

What Happens After ICON Treatment?

ICON treatment is painless and has no adverse effects for the patient.

Results are visible immediately and remain stable over time.

The cost of ICON treatment ranges between €500 and €1,500, depending on the number of teeth treated.
